MY ROAD TO TINY DESK….

3/13/23 - YA’LL I can’t tell you…ok I’ll tell you…about how long i’ve been trying to get an audition into Tiny Desk….in my head I knew I wanted a band with me….for years, four years to be exact, I asked varying musicians and got some yes’s but for one reason or another, scheduling, etc, we just couldn’t get it together.

Fast forward to circa 2023 when i’m living in Atlanta and very recently formed a band to back me up at my shows…basically an upgraded Breathless experience you know? Well, after a few bassists that didn’t work out, kismet landed the last thing I was looking for to call my band..a band.

So now myself, drummer Isaiah, keyboardist Ezra, bassist Aadae and the addition of Pops on shaker or Tamborine or just overall life wisdom. By the way, Pops is Isaiah’s dad and from day one has been such a huge supporter of the movement.

We rehearsed a few times and in order to meet the deadline…I set up a shoot/recording day at Georgia State University’s School of Music, got Josef Wilkins of 4Reel Cinema Productions to come document the whole thing and BOOM BOOM BOOM…”Move (Live Performance)” is born!

“Move” is a song about me finding my voice and learning how to take up space. As a child who shut down emotionally from trauma, music gave me a way of being expressive and powerful and in control.
